Agency Training: 4-Day Retreat

Check our calendar for upcoming trainings

This training retreat will provide you with the full range of information needed to begin The P.L.A.Y. Project Home Consulting model in your community. Topics covered are described in detail below. The four days include many case studies of actual home visits for hands-on experience with home consultation.

Who We Train

For any school or agency’s success, we’ve found that home consultants do best when they have an in-depth familiarity with children’s development, an easy ability to follow the child’s lead and play, and an ability to work supportively with families as a coach and ally. For this reason, we primarily train professionals affiliated with and supported by agencies we believe will be able to successfully implement The P.L.A.Y. Project. Agency professionals include: psychologists, social workers, speech and language pathologists, teachers, occupational therapists, etc. The agency should have a ready referral source of clients who would benefit from home consultation.

What We Teach

PLAY Project Model and Techniques: Dr. Solomon explains the philosophy and practice of relationship- and play-based interventions, preparing home consultants to implement the model in their communities upon completion of the four days.

Home Visits: We take you step by step through the process of developing a client base, setting up appointments, coaching families, evaluating the functional developmental levels, creating individualized intervention plans, etc.

Community Training Ideas and Techniques: We provide models for reaching out to your community and educating parents and professional about autism through seminars and workshops.

Administrative Structure: All aspects of administration, paper work, forms, budget, etc. will be shared with you as part of the training. We provide you with a comprehensive administrative binder, including sample forms and program outlines, which you can use as a resource as you develop your program.

Cost Management: We have tried to keep the costs as low as possible. Our intent is to reach as many families as we can. Programs that have adopted The P.L.A.Y. Project Home Consultant model and are fully operational and efficient should be able to recoup start-up expenses within the first year of operation including overhead costs. The Project has been designed to be self sustaining.
